Panerai 1st catalogues

As the SIHH approaches, I thought that it was not a bad idea to see what was Panerai 11 years before, in 1997...When they launched their First Catalogues...

This is indeed a nice trip in the past, with some strong watches...

There were 2 lines, as now, the Historical, and the Contemporary

In the Historical range, you only see manual wind movements, at the contrary of the Contemporary, where you find all the atuomatic movements...

1st, hence, the Historical Line...

Here, you will find all the basics, the essence of the brand...

Luminor, Luminor Marina, Mare Nostrum, and a Destro...

Here are the pics...

Look at this pic...Pam 1 and Pam 8 ... Wowowow! A modern reinterpetation of the Ad of the pre V Duo called, " ritornando 2 Orologi de Legenda "; with the Logo and the mare Pre V...

The Back of the catalogue means all, the influence is crystal clear, the roots are there...6152/1 Luminor.... Which will be 5 years later, reedited as the Pam 127...

The 2d Catalogue is about the Contemporary Line...

The style is less appealing, IMHO, fdor a great majority of these watches...

More complicated, less well balanced and designed, IMHO, except one or 2, as the Pal 24 and 25, the Submersible, the replicas of the Egyptiano GPF 2/56...

A look on the movement, automatic, of course...A good old ETA...

And this superb 24, with the smooth bezel, one of the nicest Subs, IMHO, with the Bomba, of course...

This is, IMO, a good comparison to evaluate what will be soon presented...
Let's hope the simpler...As it will certainly be the nicer...As Always, with Panerai..
Best.
Nicolas
