I managed to get to Florence for 1 day this summer and had the good fortune to make a special purchase at the Panerai Boutique (housed in Panerai's original workshop), which I had planned months in advance (since the model I wanted-- the "Zero") was a little difficult for them to get, but fortunately, they got one 3 days before my arrival and held it in the safe for me). The boutique was being remodeled so the attendant arranged for a car to the Four Seasons in Florence where they were doing business while the renovations we being done. This is my only Panerai, and the idea of buying it in Firenze really appealed to me, plus it represents to me my love for Italy and Italian style. I chose the Zero because it is a manual wind "logo", with painted dial, which I think symbolizes the brand in a vintage aspect. I also like the case backed stamped "Firenze 1860." Though it is an ETA movement, which I otherwise don't own, it does't bother me too much with this Panerai because of the long history of the brand outsourcing its movements from other makers.
