Hi Chuck, thank you for your comments and question. I think that for beginning Panerai collectors, the PAM 372 or 392 are good choices. They are classic with a good movement. The crown guard is iconic for Panerai but if you like a cleaner, simpler look with a classic crown then one of the Radiomir 1940s is also a good choice. Good luck and looking forward to seeing what you choose.

I would add only the fact that Panerai got, since the early days, every serious "Panerist" hooked on 3rd party straps. I'm a rookie here but I already own a special drawer for my straps that add more fun to the owning experience. Cheers, Nilo
Yes...the straps

I think I need to do a separate article just about the straps. Thanks Nilo for the idea and your comments.

It summarizes the many ways one can come to the brand. I think I first noticed one on Stallone in the mid to late 2000's. Mine served as my entry into "real" watches around 2010 after seeing many in the metal at a gathering of friends. And as mentioned, t...

I came accross Panerai around 2008 by reading a book of military history on the Italian Navy frogmen during WWII...it begun with a sparkle that soon became a fire....and needless to say that lot of money has (happily) gone since then :-)
Great read Ping
