1998 Renault Sport Spider SV.

In my opinion, the most exciting Renault since a veeery long time. A 4 Cylinders 2.0 Liters, delivering 150 HP, but a super light car. Radical, fun, living, thrilling. Even if some extra 50 HP would have been perfect. Minimalist interior... A view on the ...

LOL!!!

With 150 hp ..

 By: bimbeano : March 25th, 2024-21:37
.. it didn't go any faster than 210 kph. I remember having to close my eyes on a Ducati from 240 kph ... I was wearing an open helmet without a visor. Obviously since I had to close my eyes I had to back off from around 250/260 kph ... .. to open them aga...

Indeed !

Today I was thinking of how many times I defied or escaped death. Actually I think most of us have escaped death so many times without realizing or remembering it. Before the age of 10 i remember 2 very very close calls, my brother once tried to drown me ...

The one without the windscreen is the one to have.

The version with the windscreen looks a bit odd, the diffuser on the windscreen-less Spider diverted (most of) the wind from your face. Though it was advised to wear a helmet ;-)

Totally agree.

A 400 km range ...

 By: bimbeano : March 31st, 2024-20:15
.. for that price would be perfect for me ! If I load the battery up to 80% (to keep it in good condition) I can easily drive 150 km to our cabin and charge it there. In the morning I can get croissants in France , have some fun on the twisty roads and if...

Actually ...

 By: bimbeano : March 31st, 2024-22:45
.. i am pretty sure I could get 400+ ;-) Highways are mostly done at 100-110 kph by me, what worries me more is the range-drop when I'm driving in the Ardennes LOL .. also pretty sure I can get the range under 150 km. Anyway, even 250 km would be 'Assez' ...

´😁

Woo-Hoo! I love that! Reminds me of a friend's Honda Beat which has been transformed into what you said this could be. Then again I don't know the weight of this Renault.

 By: InDebtButOnTime : March 25th, 2024-17:56
I believe a Beat weighs around 1500 lbs and came with something like 65 hp. He did a Suzuki Hyabusa swap. Now it has 200 hp. I'll never forget the day we shocked two guys in a Corvette with it!

900 Kilos, here.

The Renault was competitor to the 340R Lotus

 By: cazalea : March 25th, 2024-20:47
I made a deal on one of these, put down a deposit, then Lotus HQ told the dealer to cancel the contract. They were negotiating with US EPA on something and didn’t want a “rogue” customer bringing one into the US. Lots of luxury, just like the Renault 😉 re...

Opel Speedster ...

 By: bimbeano : March 25th, 2024-21:33
.. was an Elise based car yes.

Yep! This one.

The Lotus had ...

True.

True story of a 1980s Ferrari's impracticality.... with a 'fabled' ending.

 By: enjoythemusic : March 27th, 2024-17:24
Went food shopping in a typical mid-engine Ferrari and used the small bit behind the engine to carry some groceries. Yes, some do grocery shop in their.... So, anyways, drove home along the mountain twisties and it seems the milk container did not handle ...

Tout à fait.

I used to own the clio williams, which it shared the engine with this one (150bhp i think). Boy was it fun to drive. The renault spider keep value quite well. Here in CH around 40-50k chf! Great car !

Enough to feel it 😄

Clearly!

 By: amanico : March 26th, 2024-23:35

Cool car, I alway though it was a post millennium car due to the design.

It was all the Ferrari looked alike GTO and FTO and road racer EVO back in late nineties in Asia.
