Please help with my next JLC!

 By: Kour : November 17th, 2011-06:19
Dear All, Been lurking on the forums for awhile and I was wondering if you guys could help me out with my next JLC acquisition. I've fallen head over heels over these, and my choices are the rarely mentioned and yet extremely sleek and stealthy Master Com...

No doubt!

TT DSA! This is an iconic watch, while the Balck Compressor Chrono is much more " trendy ". But, it is all up to you, as you will be the final owner! Best, Nicolas.

Between Master Compressor Chronograph Ceramic & 'memovox' Polaris

 By: PoyFR : November 17th, 2011-07:01
The choice can only be yours, it is you that will end up wearing it! Between the Deep Sea and the 'memovox' Polaris, Overall I prefer the Polaris, I say Polaris and not Deep Sea for you because your first choice is about a rather large watch and the Polar...

Unfortunately

 By: Kour : November 17th, 2011-07:26
I don't think the TT Polaris is available anymore...though if it was I think I would immediately grab that one and this wouldn't be an issue... :p

You still can hunt it. Have a look on the collectors market.

Some are spotting, from time to time. Best, Nicolas.

unfortunately...

Haha...I would love a brand new one!

this gives me hope...

I saw a few ones coming out ... Like the Pateks, you know, Double Sealed! Best, Nicolas.

DSA calibre different to Master Memovox too??

 By: chikai168 : November 26th, 2011-06:20
Hi, I was wondering, is the calibre in the Master Memovox different to the DSA? You mentioned that the DSA had a cricket alarm where as the Polaris has a different sound.... that got me wondering about the Master Memovox. I have heard the Master Memovox q...

but the difference in sound?

 By: chikai168 : November 26th, 2011-07:50
Thanks for the quick reply Nicholas. Just one question- if the movement is the same, why do people say the DSA has a cricket sound? The Master Memovox has a sound that I would not describe as "cricket". Is the difference due to the case design? Cheers, Ch...

No, the difference is due to the different construction of the Alarm.

 By: amanico : November 26th, 2011-07:55
On the TT DSA, the choice to make it ring like a cricket was due to its vintage origins. Indeed, the original sounded like a cricket. So, this choice was made for the TT DSA, as an acoustical Tribute. Therefore, this is the only modern Memovox sounding li...

I see!

Wonderfully explained! Thank you Nicholas.

Ceramic all the way!

 By: Artoxares : November 17th, 2011-12:56
Whatever the brand, the majority of watch lovers does not show great enthusiasm for stealthy models; They are hardly discussed most of the time. My point is that if you truly like the MCCC, only listen to your heart and go for it! Never buy anything just ...

Great Point

 By: Kour : November 18th, 2011-02:21
Thanks Nicholas! I was wondering, would you know what the lug width for the MCCC is? the Curved Springbars are making it hard to find a strap replacement for it... Along a similar vein, is there another watch you'd contemplate?

I would say 23 mm between the lugs. [nt]

Risks taken? Thank you for raising such an interesting point, Nicolas.

 By: amanico : November 18th, 2011-02:49
If I want to play the Devil's advocate, I would say that the fact the bezel is not turning on the TT DSA was a bit risky, don't you think? More seriously, playing the card of the faithful re edition is always risky, as each time you work on a re editon, a...

The Memovox is simply a more attractive watch

 By: docsnov : November 17th, 2011-21:06
in my opinion. I am all for modern materials such as ceramic cases and styling that does not just reflect older, classic models, but in this case I would get the Tribute and look for a different modern watch. As Nico said, you should be able to find this ...

Great Points

 By: Kour : November 17th, 2011-21:44
I think if I could find an unused Polaris I would run with that... Otherwise, the Ceramic might be a good, different, modern watch to own!

Thanks! And a question on Springbars

 By: Kour : November 17th, 2011-21:46
All of you have been real great! Does anyone here actually own one of the Ceramic's? The curved springbars, would anyone know if I could change them to straight to put my own straps on?

Ceramic Cases

 By: fcus : November 17th, 2011-22:07
I'm just curious if anyone with a ceramic cased watch (JLC or otherwise) could share their experience of the durability of the case. I was looking at a recent IWC model with ceramic case but read a number of reports of the case chipping quite badly, parti...

Toughness

 By: Kour : November 18th, 2011-04:34
Yeah, this is a good question.... I've heard the IWC Top Gun has problems with the case too...

Ceramic is as ceramic does...

 By: craniotes : November 27th, 2011-21:07
It's brittle, and if you drop it you risk cracking it; it's as simple as that. So, you know what? Don't drop it. :-p But seriously, I recently acquired a Top Gun Doppel and I have zero worries about wearing it as it was meant to be worn. The case is supre...

I personally went with the DSA.

I figured that i would tire of the novelty of the MC, but not of the timeless design of the DSA. Best regards, George

That's true... But there is something about the MCCC that sings to me... Haha...well, we shall see...

The DS Memovox has stood the test of time.

Aesthetically there is no comparison, but this is very subjectove and just my opinion. The question is chrono or alarm? Good luck!
