OEM cloth is for wiping only afaik and not for polishing

As you needs certain level of "graininess" and agent to polish off metal.

I used to use the OEM cloth or Selvyt to wipe my PAM clean. I hesitate using micro-fiber as it might traps micro-dirts, since it has bigger fiber weaving. But then again all cloth will trap micro dirts.

Some recommend using soft lambskin chamois to polish... tried it and it works excellent, I think it's the best way to go. Got mine from a friend who bought it from a watchstore shop in China.

question about oem cloth and brushed steel (243)

 By: john3 : May 13th, 2008-09:28
is this cloth used for a wipe down or is it a true polishing cloth? what is the best way to clean or remove scratches from the brushed steel? regards, john g

If you're referring to the beige colored cloth that comes with the box

I wouldn't use that to wipe down your watch. You should get a microfiber cloth so u don't get hairline scratches when u use this cloth to wipe your PAMs clean. If you wish to remove scratches from a brushed finish, some people use those pink & grey drawin...

what do you use to dry the watch off?

or do you not dry it after rinsing it. thanks for the insight anthony

You get scratches of whiping your Panny with the cloth that is delivered with it? I'd be surprised, because I use it sometimes and never noticed any scratches as a result. About polishing: I'm not much a a Panerai expert, but coming from a Rolex backgroun...

I believe the beige cloth that comes with the watch is for the box

 By: AnthonyTsai : May 13th, 2008-13:30
because it is on top of the box protecting the top lid from the outer cardboard box. I'm not sure the beige cloth is specificially supposed to be use wipe your PAM but rather for wiping the box. - Anthony

I wondered the same thing, Anthony

But I personnaly believe that it it comes for the watch, even of it's not a good polishing cloth... We'd have to ask to Panerai... Best. Nicolas

Here's Panerai's extra large blue microfiber cloth I recommend getting

It's huge as u can see how small my Blackberry looks like. Great cloth to have. Cheers, Anthony...

anthony, where did you get yours?

 By: john3 : May 13th, 2008-15:15
i googled it and got a bunch of fake stuff. thanks alot!

Not sure where I got mine

 By: AnthonyTsai : May 13th, 2008-15:46
I know I had 2 Panerai cloths but I lost one of them somehow. I think I got it in a Panerai goodie bag from either the Panerai Boutique, from SIHH, or from an official Panerai dinner event. I do know many brands give them away cause I had a white IWC micr...

I always use the camera lens wiper or cloth to clean the watch (glass, mirror surface area) but to wipe off the scratch or tiny scratch will leave it and that is for Panerai watch. (not PP,AP) just my 1 cent.
