It is truly beautiful in upstate NY
Although folks past Albany wouldn't consider the Hudson valley upstate whereas any NYC resident would call anything above NYC "upstate".
I lived near Pawling for a couple of years, considered part of the Hudson Valley, and would have stayed but job opportunities took me away. From the absolute country scenic I could get into lower Manhattan in about 90 minutes, no tolls!
That part of New York (and all of upstate) is really beautiful...
...people usually don't know how many trees and forests are there...

Especially the town square near the train tracks…some great restaurants…definitely a hidden gem!!!
