 By: Baron - Mr Red : May 26th, 2014-03:34
I am not sure why, but I have had a lot of questions about the 1665 Rail Dial over the last two weeks. I have found my original review of this watch and attach the link below... For sure this is one of my favourite Rolex references....probably THE favour...

Yep....i am going to put mine on now....

it has alot of character and a certain dominance.. given its size.. for a vintage..

Thanks for the compliments !

I also used to wear it on a strap...

rather than on its original bracelet and I must admit I was loving my 1665 rail dial too but... I was not feeling comfortable with it, most probably due to my chicken's wrist size; since then I am happy with my 5513 maxi which is better adapted to my wris...

Yes but I was not talking about its size but its thickness

 By: Mike H : May 30th, 2014-14:37
but you are damned right, 5070 ARRRGH ! Surely on my wish list ;-)

True. The SD is a thick watch. But it is also part of its charm.

Try a 6542... The most hieght of its case will drive you crazy... ;) Best, Nicolas aka Vlad.

I don't deny its charm at all on the contrary...

the 1665 simply does not fit well on my wrist in spite of the fact that I love its design

Hey Pastaboy....

.....first.....welcome back to the Rolex forum.....its been a few months since your first post. Yes, like Nicolas...i am also curious whether your "only 500" refers to the 1665 Rail Dial or in fact the Patek 5070..... for sure there are less than 500 of t...

Did an analysis of serial nos., availability, etc.

My Rail ...

Rarity of the Rail Dial

 By: descartes1 : September 7th, 2014-06:11
I have read the same thing...<500 1665 rail dials. Could you share your analysis? I am most interested. Thanks. :)

And now your analysis has some further support....

 By: Baron - Mr Red : September 10th, 2014-10:04
.....with Marcello suggesting 400-600...making it way rarer than a MK4DRSD....and i am guessing rarer than a Mk3 too.....
