 By: cazalea : March 23rd, 2017-07:34
Purists, To save you a trip, I have made a quick trip to the GS website and collected a few images for you. There are 28 mechanical, 5 quartz and 25 spring drives. Here are just the new models: And here are all the rest of the models on the GLOBAL, new an...

Nope, it’s a stupid idea, but one which serves a side purpose of distinguishing between self-imports and official imports, where the same identical models exist.

I hate the notion that many Westerners can’t accept Seiko is a company with many strings to its bow, and want to forcibly pigeonhole it within the same box as Swiss and German brand. The brand is Seiko, the model range is Grand Seiko – accept it or bugger...

Nonsense.

Going all the way back to the introduction in 1960, the brand has been Grand Seiko.

Companies have been doing this for a long time...

Toyota - Lexus Honda - Acura etc... Companies have been doing this for a long time. Heck Rolex even did this with Tudor. Tudor was supposed and is the cheaper alternative to Rolex.

Amazing to see their fulll range laid out like that

and there's some very nice looking watches. I'm particularly drawn to the three vintage- looking ones on the second row down. Very attractive. Thank you for showing them all. Regards Kev.

Cool to see them at once

These must be the export models. Will be interesting to see if there are any new quartz models released this year.

I'm not sure if GS will continue to have JDM vs export models

I can imagine Credor continuing in the practice, as they are even more styled to Japanese tastes than GS is. Cazalea

That would be sad

as there are many more 9F quartz models and women\'s watches on the Japanese website than the US website.

I think any company that splits or renames itself must draw a line in the sand

and say "this model remains in production, with the new look and logo; this model is out from now on and we sell down the inventory" OR they might say "we go forward while the old models don't, and we have a big sale to get rid of them" OR they perhaps ch...

Will be interesting to see what happens

I don\'t know if Seiko is going to adopt a global strategy or a domestic and export approach. Ideally they\'d sell down the existing stock or redial them and introduce the full lineup globally. Whether they want to maintain such a large inventory in multi...

The new site shows GLOBAL & JAPAN

The options are: Grand-Seiko.com Grand-Seiko.com Even those Japan site ladies watches show the Grand Seiko logo at 12. I think the message in the press materials was very clear: Grand Seiko has always been distinct in its design, character, presen...

Thank you! I hadn't seen the new ladies models.

I am mostly curious about the fate of all of the legacy models. I would like to see some, if not all, continue on under than new branding. One of my personal favorites is the SBGV017. I really like that case and bracelet style.

Additional follow up

There are pictures of some existing models rebranded with the new look on the Topper Facebook page.

Love the new diver...

I was all set to get the Rolex Sea Dweller but the new SBGH257 is really beautiful. I have to imagine the price will come in significantly under the $11K Rolex is targeting the new Sea Dweller - if you can get one. If the Grand Seiko comes in in the $6k t...

$9,600 for the new Diver - ouch!

At that price, I might actually just go for the Rolex Sea Dweller.

They changed the font of

the "Grand Seiko" a bit. I prefer the previous one. But this is not a big issue. I like quite a few of these new offerings. Well done Seiko.
