[SIHH] Review of novelties in flesh + video of skeleton tourbillon.

Jan 22, 2010,08:17 AM

First, the watch for dude... The historical pieces.

At last i try great Egyptianno, it's pure show off piece, 8 inch wrist and i can't wear it...
The finition is really good, titanium case and finish of the dial approch perfection.

Too much lugs... How can Stallone wear it??

The new Mare Nostrum, I love it, the more straight replica of vintage, impressive, she can be good at my wrist...
The photo don't show it but she quit in proportion, not for all day, but it's perfect for a friday wear.
The move seem to be a Minerva 13-22 (i think first that's a 16-29), as Alessandro told me...
She have a saphir on caseback, but no drama, the movement is very beautiful.

The price of 26000€ make the piece to exclusive for me... I prefer a Duometer at this price.
A watch for rich men, with a big wrist and an a big envy to look like a bad boy.
But, and is the most important, the watch keep full legitimity, that's not always happen on vintage-like pieces...

Here a beautiful "trio", Mare Nostrum, Rad "3646" and "GPF 2/56"...
Smell like vintage spirit.
I'am stupid, it's only my strap that stink. smile

You see that the PAM300 is only a bit more big than the PAM232.

Same pics with the PAM339, is not so coherent on vintage criteras... But level of level of finish is more coherent.

This PAM339 kill me softly. A real beauty, more in real than on my pics.

The dial is magnific, the badge "8 giornoni" and the "Marina Militare", are not really historic, but too in the spirit.

This watch is not historic, but she keep all good side of vintage Panerai.

2 regrets, she has no normal l lugs as the Ferretti prototype, and no gold hands...

The watch stay thin, even the thick (8mm) P.2002 inside.

Another point that i love on this piece, the lines of the case are softly, as my 232, not as the titanium 47mm rads that are more hard.

After this marvelous watch, an UFO, i don't even to class it in this rewiew.
A great movement, that and independant watchmaker will make pay you the double...
(Actually the watch cost 100500€).

When things become hards, is when you see the thickness, she's fat, you can call it the Pifpaf watch....
This crazy movement will be better on 1950 case...

In fact, is more a piece for lover of independant watchmaker (I was one), than a watch for Paneristis.

A video of this impressive tourbillon:

PAM348, skeleton tourbillon. Ceramic.
Uploaded by sgtpifpaf. - Arts and animation videos.

After the LE, the catalog pieces, first a crazy new luminor 1950.
With a polished case, marvellous, i have lost the hope of Panerai make this kind of finish on their steel for 1950 case. PAM359

My money gone on 339, but this watch is perfect for a new Paneristi, the dial with light brown arabic number, and sandwich roxxing.
The date is less present, du to the number everywhere on the dial.

A couple of PAM312 with leather an titanium strap (this one is great), PAM351 and 352.
The chocolate dial and gold hand sounds the watch warmer, than a classical 312.
Is not my favorite, but its a good watch.

You notice that Panerai no longer keep the rule that the golds hands where putted on the Limited Editions...

2 new chrono, to take place of PAM212 and 213, always with a 7750 + Lajoux Perret module.
Flyback and rattrapante for PAM361 and 362...
The saphir is now flat. The price is down, but the interrest, without bombed saphir, too.

And new Ceramic 1950 watch, PAM335 ceramic version of PAM270.
The PAM 317 is so delayed, than i asking futur custome to waiting...
The movement is no longer PVDised, a teinted saphit came in place of it.
Very fine watch, 12500€.

At last, Radiomirs:

PAM346 titanium 45mm with P.2002, and gold hands.

The watch nice, more than PAM268, (346 gonna take is place), but the result is little bit too thick, with my 232:

A trio, that make some noise:

The PAM336, 337 and 338 gold, steel, and titanium.
The basis of movement P.999 is seems to came from Minerva, the result is very good.

This 42mm watch will work easyly, beside woman, and those who don't love big watchs.

The watch is very flat. The gold is too expensive at 11400€, you have some PP, VC or L&S close to this price.
But the titanium at 5400€, is fine. Steel version seems to be the less interesting at 4900€.

After, the PAM323, a P.2003 movement in 47mm case... Circular RdM.
I always search interest of this piece...

A totaly new regatta, a 47mm Radiomir with the movement of the PAM346, 7750 with Lajoux Perret module.
Rattrapante + Foudroyante at 1/8 of second. I prefer 1/4 with this move, cause at 1/8 the hand of foudroyante is too fast, and you can't see it well.
And the finish of the dial and of the foudroyante, is too commonplace.

The watch is very thick, too...

Finally, is one of the best SIHH for Panerai for a long time ago, since 2006, historical watch are great, classics collections are nice.
2009 is a good year, but this year, is a great year.
339, 300 and 359 haunt my wet dreams.
Definitly the year of the Radiomir too.

A big thanks to Emanuela, Muriel, David and Alessandro to receive me.

Loved your honest commentary and those are some great pictures too. And I'm happy to see your videos as well! Wish more people posted videos here I'm also happy to hear that Panerai didn't use the domed sapphire crystals in the PAM361 and 362 chronographs...

Thanks Antony, you know, go to Geneva, spend money, and copy/paste official communicate,
