A couple of quick shots of PAM 328

Hello Paneristas,

I am not a regular poster here, but I thought I should share a couple of quick shots I took of a PAM328 with you.

But to start from the beginning: Early in my “collecting” years I had the PAM111. I really love the watch since for me it was a perfect “party” watch!

In Sweden the watch was big and bold at that time, 2003, other watches that was considered “big” at that time was for example Rolex SD 16600, 39.5 mm.

The PAM111 was perfect to match with different colors (I think I had all the colors of the rainbow), and not as known as for example Rolex or Omega.

I have gone through all my photos and the only wrist shot I have found on my PAM is this one from Venice.

This was taken long before I joined the Purists, now where ever I go I only have wrist shots or photos of watches…!

wink

Unfortunately I had to let the PAM111 go back in 2010, to fund another watch…

sad

Something I still regret, a lot!

Long story short – a friend of mine will get the PAM 328 for his 40’s birthday am I had the chance to snap a couple of quick shots of the watch before it will be handed over to him…

(No he don’t read the Purists so I think it’s safe to share it here)

Please excuse the plastic on the bracelet, I didn’t want to rob him of the pleasure to unwrap the watch!

I must say that when I saw the PAM328, I got a very nice surprise; a lot have changed in 10 years. The finish, details of the hands, the dial, the crystal, must say that I really like this one a lot!

Makes me think I should add one Panerai into my collection… I think my choice would be more like PAM372 or PAM422 than the 328. Only objection I have is the size, 47 mm!

But on the other hand, if memory serves me well I found the 47 mm case to sit better on the wrist than the 44 mm. Hm… Yes, maybe it’s time for me to have a closer look again on Panerai…?

Well, it will probably take some time before I add one into my collection again, but this event has started my thinking process for sure!

smile

Sorry for somewhat poor photo quality… Hope you at least enjoyed the last two shots!

Best

Blomman

PS. One thing I didn’t like on the 328, is the crown. No distinct feel between the different setting positions, pushed in, set date, set time… I should check the crown settings on the 372, since no date, maybe it’s better on that one?

Thanks blomman, Great post. When you happen to mention those exact two models, I got interested. By pure coincidence - it's the two Panerai models I happen to own. No more , no less :-) Love the bracelet on the 328. It CAN rub the underside of my wrist a ...

Great pair, Bent! :)

Thank you for your input and the comparison shot! :) How is the feel of the 422? Same as the 328? Best Blomman

Both watches are

quite comfortable to wear - considering both are heavy/thick watches. To make the comparison valid, both should be put on i.e. a leather strap. Then, I feel the 422 stays a little better on the wrist - probably due to its' larger area supporting the wrist...

Thank you for your feedback, Bent!

Thoughts on a metal vs leather strap on a Panerai?

One more shot of the PAM 328
