Panerai 2014 collection PAM 785: An air of Pre Vendome.

Oct 01, 2014,10:34 AM

Panerai surprised me a lot, in a positive way, this year.

After the Radiomir 1940 Marina Militare, here is another delicious surprise, the PAM 785, which is not one Watch ,but a set of rwo watches, which will mean a lot for the old school guys, as we have here, nothing else and nothing more than the modern iteration of two well known watches, the Day Light and the Black Seal, which were called, in 1996 Slytech.

The Daylight Slytech:

With its special box:

The Black Seal Slytech, which came in the small pre vendome wooden box:

We have to precise that the Black Seal Slytech never came in production. It was olny a prototype which never came to production because the Watch was delivered after Panerai was bought by Vendôme in March 1997.

The case in in stainless steel, 44 mm big, and, for the Black Seal, receives a DLC finish.

Exit the ETA movement, welcome ( by all meanings!) the 8 Days movement Cal P 5000.

These 2 watches cannot be bought separately. You have to buy the set. Which is limited to 500 pièces.

Maybe do you want to see them?

Here is the press file I just received:

The Black Seal:

The Daylight:

You will notice that the big box differs a bit from the original, but the spirit is here....

Back in the good old days?

Best,

Nicolas

A big deal indeed...

Although I'm not a Luminor 44 mm fanatic (to me Panerai is all about 47 mm cushion shaped) I must admit that this set is a big deal. First and foremost we can consider this Black Seal THE REAL Black Seal (as the preV never came to production) and secondly...

Love the 5218-218 tribute, woohoo!!!

If that one was sold separately, I'm pretty sure it would give the 587 stiff competition!!! Not that the set won't sell out all the same ;) T4S :)

I would indeed have preferred to have the possibility to buy the watches separately.

I mean, the Daylight or the Black Seal, rather than having to get the Set, yes. I had these two pre vendome pièces, so you can understand why I am so pleased to see these 2! ;) Best, and thanks for your feedback. Nicolas

Love to have em

but I fear the worst ... Demand out stripping demand ... Not into that game .. No matter how much I think this is great .... Do apologize for the negativity , but time and again ... Such a shame

I share the same fear... Afer long years of tricky games, fear became my usual

First feeling... Too bad! Best, Nicolas

As much as I....

appreciate the idea of breathing life into the 5218-218 (a-la 2533/373) and reinforcing the strong Pre-V connotation by adding the "whity", I'm not sure I like the set. The extensive usage of the "ecru luminova" (which for me will remain faux-tritium, for...

I agree with you, Nicolas, and I'm also...

positive it wouldn't look the same (at least the 218 "wannabe") but...personally....I just don't like the stuff :-) Cheers... ps I managed the "switch" and I..will..get the 587, yuppyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

I wonder the retail price is going to be for this PAM785 set

There probably will be people who break up the set, so eventually you'll be able to find these pieces individually IMO. Flippers will buy the set and then try to resell them individually for a profit... - AT

The retail is 15900 Euros / 20900 USD.

We have to see how come the papers. If you haveonly one booklet for the two watches... Then, I don't think flipppers will sell then individually. Best, Anthony. Nicolas

K noted! [nt]

in another forum, this is starting of a series of duo set . If this is true, then we may see all the PreV PVD..(4., 9 etc). I really dont mind a new 9..:} Regards John

I am not sure what they will release but the 4 & 9

Is my personal favorites.

I've missed this post....

I just have something to show you... :-) Ciaooooooooooo ps. I have, in the meantime, changed the hands of the 4 :) ...

Thank you Nicolas. This is a nice set.

And it sounds well priced for what it is, IMO. Still, the 587 is the winner for me. I loved the 399 when it was launched (2 years ago I think?), but the 587 is even nicer with the base dial.

I would have preferred to have the choice to get both or each of them.

 By: amanico : October 3rd, 2014-08:23
But it is, in my opinion, an interesting set.... Fro those who know the pre vendome related watches. Best, and thanks for your feedback, Michael. Nicolas

It will be a boutique set only ............

at least that's the latest news i have on it .....in that case they can keep it ! I only buy at my AD, other brands will be happy to receive my money :)

Interesting concept.. Cool, a bit Machismo but stylish .. Like it !.. One Q..

.. what is the instrument (?) in the large box ? last but not least: also +1 on the favoured possibility to buy them separate, as well.. Alltogether, kind of interesting indeed.. Best, hs

A " Maiale ", a small submarine, used by the guys from the Flottilgia Mas.
