STEEEL

I am also an fortunate, or unfortunate owner, depending how one views the matter, on the box set.

While I have yet to comply with Panerai's request in sending back the STEEEL time piece for replacement, I can't help but wonder aloud on the overall quality control if not assurance by PAM!

After all, this is supposed to be a limited edition, with less than 100 units.  If the production was to be say 1,000 pieces, maybe I can still cut Bonati some slack.  But to have such glaring oversight ona limited production is almost unthinkable, if not unforgivable!!!

Mr. Bonati, as CEO, and Richemont, as the parents, owes all 399 owner more than a written apology.  At least that is one man's opinion!

PAM 399 x PAM 21

Do you think the PAM 399 will be the second grail of the Panerai, only behind the PAM 21 ?

I don't think it will. Why?

 By: AnthonyTsai : May 28th, 2013-20:27
Because the PAM399 doesn't house an Angelus or Rolex movement. Maybe one day in the future we'll see a PAM399 variant w/ one of these movements though. Until then, I would consider the PAM203 the 2nd holy grail behind the PAM21 (I'm only referring to Pane...

Thank you Anthony.

No

Because Panerai can always reissue the 399, could never be a reissue of the 21.

unless

unless they buy some old rolex movements (pocket watch movements) which you can find on ebay and other similar sites. These movements are not expensive. You can also find a lot of 8 days Angulus. Maybe som will need a few modifications. Anyway, if they re...

Do not think richemont Panerai will use a Rolex movement vintage or not

 By: sidekick. : May 29th, 2013-20:15
Unless there is a merger of the two companies. It will be more likely Rolex will release a radomir style case before Panerai puts a Rolex movement in their watches again And remember the 21s were tough to sell and sold below retail.

Not even close IMO. As Anthony, rightly....

pointed out, the movement inside the watch is...unremarkable...for a "grail". 21 houses an "original" Rolex, 203 houses an Angelus etc etc Cheers

I don't think so

 By: P@trick@Belgium : May 30th, 2013-14:23
that Panerai will even be able to produce 'grails' after all the so called limited edions that are re-editioned in one or other way! that period is defintely closed IMO.

Negative

No , I think Panerai arrived to his top level of interest and will go down in the next years. The only Pam really interesting in 2013 is the 526 and i think The Regattas models will go a better value in the next years.

Maybe not grail but interesting collectible

I'm one of the few who bought the set (pam784) to commemorate a special occasion. I bought it for my wife and I. She likes the red gold and I the steel. I noticed a misspelling on the caseback of the steel 399 and notified Panerai. They spelled steel as "...
