Engraving takes a span of one work week per watch. …. so they ask 12.000 per week …:-(

I said this before I really like this watch but the price is outrageous
I knew it take 30 till 50 hours. About 1 or 2 years ago I mailed with a person who works for Kindler & Thorpe. He told me it takes 30 till 50 hrs. But Kindler and Thorpe sells these watches for 8 K or 9 K. And they are also VERY well made, the guy I spoke to also works for Holland & Holland and Purdey's so not the average Joe.
When Panerai showed the 604 I was almost sure it would be my next watch.
A 6.5K Radiomir, let's add 2K for the work ( engraving) and another 2 K because 'they can' … it's Panerai after all. So I was prepared to pay something like 10K. It's just an entry level Panerai you know.
When I heard the price was 18.800 euro I was shocked.
For that price one would expect at least it had a Minerva inside and not a standard Panerai base movement !!!
10K, that is what I think it is worth.
I still love the brand but when I look at their lisp rice… they're gone mad :-(
The Mare Nostrum is another example, wonderful but 37K for a titanium watch ??
I will still follow the brand but buying them another story

than in the press photos because I get a better feel of the character of the engravings with different shades of lighting. Hmmm perhaps we'll see a Purdy engraved Luminor (sans the hunter case like in prior models) for SIHH 2016? Cheers, Anthony
That'd be cool!

I've always been a huge fan of those engraved Purdey Hunting Rifles specifically for the engravings. But when the Panerai watches with the Purdey engravings came out, I just found it too much work to undo the cover to see the time. A watch with the engrav...
Sticker shock....

Was thinking about getting the watch and spending up to 12K USD for it until I just read the retail price of $18,800 EUR. I get it. It is a limited edition of 99 pcs and the engraving looks great. But seriously, I echo the same sentiment, the price of wat...
I see where you're coming from.

FYI, this Panerai Radiomir comes with the "better" movement so it would've cost more than 6500 Euro. But yes, it still wouldn't cover the total discrepancy you visualize. I totally see where you're coming from, but let me play devil's advocate and show yo...
I have...booked...one, BUT

if the case is positevly amazing, there are 2, rather disturbing, flaws associated with this piece, IMO. The movement and the strap/buckle. For such a richely engraved case, the movement has NO embellishment whatsoever!!! I would have expected some sort o...
Good point! I agree! Especially about the buckle.

Good points! You're so right about the clasp! 1. I can live without the movement engraving. 2. They should've done a more interesting strap. 3. They really should've done something for the clasp. Naturally, an extension of the engraving design on the clas...
these are great comments about the piece..
