The pink gold case houses the Panerai OP XXVIII Calibre which uses the Minerva 13-20 movement as its base. Panerai dismantled, refinished, and modified the 1940s movement to meet its technical and quality standards, similar to the same dismantling and refinishing of the 8 day vintage Angelus movement in the PAM203. All the bridges are the historical ones of the 1940s.
And below is the excerpt from the press release regarding the balance spring:
"The balance spring used in this movement is formed with Phillips curves at each end. This makes the oscillation of the helical balance spring truly isochronous, without any eccentricity which would cause the rate to vary. The curves of the balance sprng are created by hand. The skilled watchmaker known as a "Regluese" shapes the ends of the spring by hand and adjusts its length so that the balance oscillates at precisely the same frequency as the one used as a reference standard."
Minerva recently became part of the Richemont Group since Mont Blanc bought them. And Minerva in the 1930s and 1940s supplied Panerai with precise secs and min timers which were used in some of its timing devices.
Very beautiful movement to look at the contrast of the pink gold with steel is very striking IMO!
