It we were 5 or 6 years before, I would have recommended you the MM Pre V. Nowadays, the prices are that crazy that with a MM Pre V, you can buy a PP 5070 and a PP WT for the same price. So, I would say that you are a lucky guy to have got this 217, which...

as much as i want a Pre V MM, the price is moving further and further away from my comfort zone! I can cheat myself with maybe a PAM9A or PAM4B!

I also started my journey with 104.. And I totally agree with you about the ETA accuracy and convenience... It's a perfect everyday watch and a perfect entry level Panerai... I too really liked the 233 but couldn't afford it back then, so I fell for the 1...
