My quick view on the Panerai offer, this year

 By: amanico : January 24th, 2010-06:21
I had to pay a short visit at the Panerai Booth, this year, as every year, and I must say that a few of their watches are very interesting. I'm preparing a dedicated topic about the Mare Nostrum Pam 300, as it deserves more than a few pics, indeed. I didn...

Best pics by far on this piece....

this is the first time I have actually seen the brown hue on this one. It is nice and the one I was interested in seeing last week.....if it had been in a SS case it would have been a different story as this would then have complimented my 292 but as I al...

Well the strap is nice, but

It's a long time I prefer the non OEM straps... If I take the watch, will let this strap in the box... Best, Nicolas

great pics Nicolas. What is the hands color : Black??

 By: patrickh : January 24th, 2010-09:41
No golden hands, I think. Cheers, Patrickh

Yes, black hands...

I should have preferred golden hands, but hey...Maybe Panerai will change them on he definitive version? Best, Ncolas

My preferred Panerai for years

Many thanks for this post and these great pictures Nico. I hadn't been so attracted by a Pannie for years. I really like the case, much more interesting than a PVD or DLC one. Also the dial is great : almost perfectly symetric and including the 3 and 9. M...

Same for me, Thom

I miss the four lines on the dial and the golden hands, but I'm sure that Panerai will do something, as they did in the Past for the 232. It was really a long time that I've been moved by a Panerai...Since the 232 and the 249...In ...2006. Best, Nicolas

I completely agree Nicolas!!!

Great looking Panerai. Although admittedly not historically accurate, it remains consistent with the DNA of the brand. Moreover, it is innovative, distinctive, and super cool looking. When I sold my 322, I did not know if I would get another Rad. The 339 ...

Yep, Craig.

In this case, I can really say that it is a clever move from Panerai. Not totally historically correct, but so nice, and faithful to the roots. That is how I love Panerai. Best, Nicolas

The PAM 339 a.k.a The Brownie

is one delicious piece but still PAM 300 is Numero Uno for me at 52mm it don't look or wear so big but as you know I like it big Best Damian

Wait a bit, Damian, I'm working on the Pam 300 topic.

So for the moment, you'll have to do with the Brownie, before going on the Steak... Best, Nicolas

Nicolas, what is there to talk about the PAM 300

It is simply replicated with prefect precision. Hard to wear for most of us, but lovely to again admire ;-) - Otherwise no history to topic it ;-) This message has been edited by PoyFR on 2010-01-25 04:42:08 This message has been edited by PoyFR on 2010-0...

So.....

my friend, are you flirting with a new Panerai? Cheers

Time will tell

It may be possible that this one will be my next one... If things go in the right way... We'll see soon. Best, Nicolas

The composite...

 By: BDLJ : January 26th, 2010-15:30
Nico, From what I've read in Kong's post in the SIHH forum, I am pretty sure that the "composite" case is a case-hardened/surface finish similar in concept to PVD, CVD, etc. The base material for the case would appear to be Aluminium alloy. Not that it ma...

Ben, it seems that you're right.

And that the first informations I was given about this watch weren't good. BUT, it is still a cool watch, and it seems that this treatment is more resistant to scratches than PVD or DLC. Best, and thanks for the correction! Nicolas

That's only because...

 By: BDLJ : January 26th, 2010-23:24
...I am a nerd (and I have had a few things things hard coated and surface treated) It doesn't detract at all from the watch, as I think they made a very good choice with the Microplasma coating. It's marketing again, a composite sounds much more appealin...

LOL, but well said, Ben.

Would love to see 'autumn pics' and fallen leaves of this one on a roof, and perhaps a wrist shot with the mediterranean sea?

You read in my mind, Mr Gatsby.
