One thing is liking, the other is collecting. The 5218-201a started a new era for Panerai. The FIRST commercial model produced. Now, that's a milestone for the company. The 202a, on the other hand it's simply (I.M.O.) a spectacularly handsome model that has everything in the right place but (and it's a big BUT for me), is simply one of the models produced in that period. Having to choose between the 2 (a man possesses only so many kidneys) I would buy the 201a every day of the week, and twice on sunday. Do I think the 201a is the better looking Panerai model between the two? No

My favourite models (regardless of any considerations) are the 002 and 009 Pre-A. If they had been Pre-Vs, people would have killed to own one IMO of course
