IMPORTANT NOTICE: Further changes made to the Radiomir Egiziano PAM 341

Mar 16, 2009,07:41 AM

Ciao Paneristis!

Trust you all are having a great Monday.

Well, I have some official news from Panerai today regarding the PAM 341.

The latest change that will be made to the production version of this marvelous piece is the material that the crystal will be crafted from.

Initially, it was meant to be made from sapphire, but now the latest change is that it will be made from Plexiglas, just like the 249.

Wow, you guys can now begin to imagine how big that replacement Plexi that they should provide will be!

As a result, the water resistance of the piece, which was initially set at 100meters, is now unconfirmed.

I assume that it will end up being much less, just like the 249 which was only limited to 30m.

But since this beast has a solid caseback, it just might go a little deeper, say 50m.

These changes are official, but have not yet been reflected on the OP webpage product information page. ( unlike the production no. change from 300 to 500 pieces)

I wonder if those who wish for the hands to be changed to a pink gold hands will come true for you guys!

Cheers

Stephen

I'm very happy to hear that Panerai will install a plexy on the Egiziano! We'll see what Panerai will say for the Water resistance, but it may be possible to get a 100 meter W.R, the JLC Polaris being 200 meters W.R. As for the hands, I guess Panerai didn...

Indeed it is good news mon ami!

This makes it closer to the original, which if i'm not mistaken was installed with a Plexi? You are right about the water resistance, but mon ami, this is Panerai, not JLC, non? LoL! As for the shape of it, whether it will be domed, or flat, or even protr...

Of course, the original Egiziano had a plexy, Stephen.

Would have preferred the sapphire remained only because of wearability. Bigger watches tend get dinged more and this watch will get dinged. Not that I don't covet one as I do hope to receive one. I've beaten up a few big watches over the years. This piece...

Thanks for posting this update, Stephen!

It will be again a long year waiting for the Piece ! My "dealer" will have quite some work in keeping me quiet. Really interested in knowing if the material change will have any consequence in the aesthetics. I think that the plexyglass offset of the orig...
