SIHH 2015: Panerai PAM604 Firenze Accio Special Edition Engraved

All you need to know about the Panerai PAM 604 Firenze.  Patrick_y from PuristSPro shows you live photos and what's cool about the PAM 604 Firenze special edition.  A definitive resource for the PAM 604.  The Panerai 604 is a special edition of 99 pieces.  It was made to celebrate the grand re-opening of the newly remodeled Florence boutique, the original store that first sold Panerai.

Here's a watch that unfortunately looks really quite nice on my wrist.  And as a long-time fan of Panerai, I'm truly tempted to want to get this piece...

Here are the most interesting facts about the PAM 604:
1.  Engraving takes a span of one work week per watch.  It is engraved, then filled with black coloring.
2.  To be sold only in the historic Florence Boutique at San Giovanni Square.  The original Panerai boutique.
3.  Designs resemble typical Tuscan designs, mostly found in Tuscan churches in the region.  The flower resembles the Florentine Lily, a motif that is popular in Florence in churches and town squares.
4.  Engraving is first traced and then totally engraved by hand in the freehand style with a chisel.  This means that if the engraver makes a mistake, he or she would have to start over again on a new case and effectively would negate all the work previously done.

There is a sunburst sandwich dial on this watch.

Trying to get the engraving.

The lily.

It looks beautiful on the wrist.  Hmm, I want one.  Uh oh!

It takes one week to engrave the case of this watch!

All the engravings are first traced on and then filled in.

PRESTO!  The Finished Product.

I'm a big fan of these engraved watches and I would really like to add this Panerai into my collection.  But with a fear of only 99 pieces made, I might have to work pretty hard and pretty quick to get one!

Temptations, temptations.  Panerai has done it again!

than in the press photos because I get a better feel of the character of the engravings with different shades of lighting. Hmmm perhaps we'll see a Purdy engraved Luminor (sans the hunter case like in prior models) for SIHH 2016? Cheers, Anthony

That'd be cool!

I've always been a huge fan of those engraved Purdey Hunting Rifles specifically for the engravings. But when the Panerai watches with the Purdey engravings came out, I just found it too much work to undo the cover to see the time. A watch with the engrav...

Engraving takes a span of one work week per watch. …. so they ask 12.000 per week …:-(

I said this before I really like this watch but the price is outrageous I knew it take 30 till 50 hours. About 1 or 2 years ago I mailed with a person who works for Kindler & Thorpe. He told me it takes 30 till 50 hrs. But Kindler and Thorpe sells the...

I think we're going to be seeing higher retail prices as a result of strong Swiss Franc

I too agree with you that retail pricing for Panerai's is getting a little out of hand. And the same goes with practically all the other watch brands too - Panerai isn't the only one. This is why I find it difficult to pull out the wallet now and buy from...

Sticker shock....

Was thinking about getting the watch and spending up to 12K USD for it until I just read the retail price of $18,800 EUR. I get it. It is a limited edition of 99 pcs and the engraving looks great. But seriously, I echo the same sentiment, the price of wat...

I see where you're coming from.

FYI, this Panerai Radiomir comes with the "better" movement so it would've cost more than 6500 Euro. But yes, it still wouldn't cover the total discrepancy you visualize. I totally see where you're coming from, but let me play devil's advocate and show yo...

I have...booked...one, BUT

if the case is positevly amazing, there are 2, rather disturbing, flaws associated with this piece, IMO. The movement and the strap/buckle. For such a richely engraved case, the movement has NO embellishment whatsoever!!! I would have expected some sort o...

Good point! I agree! Especially about the buckle.

Good points! You're so right about the clasp! 1. I can live without the movement engraving. 2. They should've done a more interesting strap. 3. They really should've done something for the clasp. Naturally, an extension of the engraving design on the clas...

these are great comments about the piece..
