Smokey and the Bandit, Part 2
Apr 17, 2024,19:21 PM
We now are now descending deep into a canyon with relatively new and modern homes. A hummingbird catches my eye and I catch him JUST TAKING OFF.
He only flew a foot or so and landed, glaring at me. I took a few more pics and moved along ...
My wife looked across the canyon and noticed a strangely twisted tree!
View down the canyon towards the harbor (looking at the same spot as we did from between the houses in Part 1)
I saw a butterfly skitter by and tried to catch it with the camera. I failed. The scrub jay caught it instead! Now you see it.
Now you don't. At least half is down the hatch.
Foliage is very dense down here.
First and only wild mammal of the day sauntered across the street and froze when he saw us.
We climbed out of the canyon and made our way up, trying to locate the corner where we parked. The lady walking the dog (far right) was one of at least 20 dog walkers we saw, and also the youngest and cutest.
House 11
This house looks ok from here but the yard was totally neglected and overgrown.
House 12
Look at the paint job on this porch! I love it!
Rest of the house was ok too, with view out to the bay.
House 13
This giant yucca tree has one toe over the wall heading for the sidewalk.
The oldest and slowest dog walker of the day, with the longest leash too.
Rolf Sachs Design Fortis is keeping time but the date isn't changing. Maybe it's time for a service. I bought this watch from a WPS member G99. Anyone remember Graham?
Photo database says that was 2012 AKKK!
We continue to see Beautiful houses

House 15
My wife says "What's on top of that tall tree?"
I reply "A star" It must have been a Christmas tree once, long, long ago.
I continue to be amazed at the houses!
House 16
Red brick homes are almost unheard of in San Diego. I've seen maybe a dozen in my whole life here. This is mostly hidden from the frontage,
but visible from the side street.
House 17
I like the Craftsman style shown here. Even though we have a mid-century modern home we have some craftsman furniture and accessories.
House 18
We turned the corner at this house and entered another canyon. This is the side yard and the whole lot must be an acre or more.
House 19
Quite a bit of jungle here, as well as a house.
Nice entry walk with fountains, steps, the sound of chickens cackling, a couple of beehives humming, and so forth. Like Mike's Wild Kingdom, only wilder!
We find some nice but smaller houses as we climb out of the other side of the canyon. On the sidewalk, not through the jungle.
House 20
Thanks for cruising with us today.

PS - have to stop, my wife made me a salad for lunch!
