No regrets, but...

Aug 15, 2014,16:37 PM

I have sold about 10 watches since 2004. They came from a wide variety of brands - Seiko, JLC, Zenith, Panerai, Maurice Lacroix, Chronoswiss, Sinn, and Oris.  All of them were let go to create room in my collection.  There were no regrets, but I was upset to see a JLC AMVOX 1 I once owned, was resold a couple of times by flippers.  I could identify the custom strap I had it made for that watch from the seller pictures.

We have lots of discussion here on the process and steps involved in BUYING a watch: * research * hunting * investigating * trying-on * shopping dealers and prices * waiting for delivery * insuring the shipment * unboxing the new arrival * wearing it * de...

Good question ...

On my case, I feel ... Happy that the watch went to a person that will give to it more appreciation that I was giving and also thankful that I can pay the incoming watch. Absolutely no regrets and I don't keep track of the ones that I sold (yes, I know I ...

I'm glad that the question resonates with you, and welcome to the PuristS! What other things do you enjoy that has made this your favorite? On this theme, I was considering moving out a watch winder that I've had in a box for 2 years since I retired (not ...

Definitely strikes a chord. I guess when it's for 'upgrading' to a more desired watch, there is the feeling of being anxious that the new watch won't deliver on its promises.... That you're letting go a nice watch, for somethign that you're not sure will ...

Not exactly a great feeling to sell a watch...

I didn't really need the money when I let go of some of the watches. I've sold several over the years. My first nice watch, an Aqua Terra when the co-axial was all the rave back in 2003. Those were the days. I thought the 41mm was too big for me and decid...

. . . there is a special pleasure in giving away a watch, even if it's one that's 'past its prime' in terms of the current phase of collecting criteria. This Fortis . . . . . . was gifted to a dear friend. ...

For now, no regrets...

I was very fond of my Zenith Chronomaster XXT Open. The picture is terrible, but the design was sublime. An underrated gem, perhaps because the Nataf era at Zenith was so controversial. However, it was my first secondhand watch purchase, and I had to send...

Historically, I have not sold a watch until I became thoroughly tired of it. By the time of sale, I just wanted them out of the house. I think my selling decisions have been good so far, as even though I occasionally look at an old picture and think what ...

but generally feel pretty good about the pieces I have sold with two exceptions: 1. a Patek 5711J 2. a Panerai PAM0237 I don't regret selling them, just that I sold them for too little.

So far so good

Much of the time, I feel happy, a few times sad, and it may happen that I feel silly.

Let's face it, most of the time, when I sell a Watch, which is veeeery rare, that is because I don't wear itr anymore and that the lust has gone. So, most of the time, I am happy. Sometimes, I feel sad... I regret having let go a Watch. I had to let it go...

I suppose....
