Anyone wearing an ostrich strap?
Oct 17, 2013,09:41 AM
Not me.
But am wondering why it is never mentioned or suggested anywhere on a watch forum!
I do have a."Brieftasche" which is a pocket-size folder for carring such essentials as a passport with lots of room for banknotes and cards.
Mine is at least 60 years old and came from Bigelow Kennard Co. Boston. It was purloined from my father.
The great thing about ostrich as a material for leather is that it shows absolutely no signs of wear, nor requires special care or treatment after years of use.
It is tough and looks time-machine new.
And so back to my question ...

JLC in particular seems to like these straps, and I had two of their honey ostrich straps on my Reverso Duo SS over the years. As you say, they wear like iron! Best, Gary

My purpose was merely to inject something else into a discussion upon wearable and endurable strap materials. So why not the ostrich, almost threatened with extinction because of some exorbitant ladies, fin de siecle, buying up magnificent plumes (feather...
